PLAN YOUR VISIT
We know that visiting a new church can be intimidating. We want to make things easy for you!
What time should I show up? FBC Thurmont meets at 7 Sunny Way at 11 am on Sundays. We also have Sunday School classes for all ages, where everyone can learn and study the Bible at age appropriate levels….but that’s a lot of pressure for a first time guest, so if you feel more comfortable just showing up at 11, that’s totally cool!
How Long is a Service? In general our services are between 60 and 75 minutes. We usually begin with announcements and singing worship songs. Our songs are projected onto a screen. You can sing along and/or engage with the worship in your own way- whatever you feel most comfortable with. Then Pastor Jay brings a message to encourage and challenge us in our faith. We usually close out our services with a couple of more worship songs.
What is the culture like at FBC Thurmont? Sundays are engaging, vibrant, and relaxed. Come as you are and we look forward to welcoming you!
What about my kids? At FBC Thurmont we want to meet kids where they are, so we offer a nursery where children from ages birth-2 are cared for in our main building. Our older kids have children’s church in our portable building right next door, where you can expect them to have a blast while they learn about Jesus through interactive lessons, games, crafts, and songs.
We also believe that children and families worshipping together is a beautiful thing, so on the first Sunday of the month we have Family Sunday where the kids are in the main service. We have a children’s message for them, but if they get loud and noisy during service, no worries– children are loud and that’s ok! Kids are both the future and the now of the church, so we feel it is important that they feel comfortable in “big” church too!
The other thing you can expect at FBC Thurmont is child safety. So be sure to leave yourself some extra time when you arrive because you’ll need to get them registered/checked in. If you want to save some time on your first Sunday, you can go ahead and register them here. Children’s Church
